Year 2 2025 - 2026
Mrs Goulbourne
Class Teacher
A warm welcome to Year 2's class page.
On behalf of all the staff in Year 2, welcome to our class page. This is where you will find all the information you need to know about what we will be doing this term.
In Year 2, we always try to make our learning enjoyable and engaging so that it's memorable. We also work hard in lessons to reach clearly defined objectives and produce work of increasingly high quality.
We recognise that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child's education.
If you ever have any questions or would like a chat about subjects or progress, please do not hesitate to ask.

Branch 1 - Creation and Covenant
In this branch, the children will learn about the story of Noah, mainly focusing on God’s promise, or covenant, with Noah and with all creatures that ‘nothing of flesh shall be swept away again by the waters of the flood’ (Gen 9:15), a promise symbolised by the rainbow. They will learn about John the Baptist and journey through St Luke’s gospel as they come to know the signs in the gospel that Jesus is the Messiah spoken of by the prophets. The children will consider how the power of the Holy Spirit transforms the lives of people in the writings of St Luke, for example, Mary, Elizabeth, and Paul, and consider how a life in Jesus calls people to be good neighbours.
Branch 2 - Prophecy and Promise
In Branch 2, the learning topics include retelling religious accounts from Annunciation and the birth of Jesus. The accounts will be taken from the Gospel of Luke. This branch includes identifying Zechariah's message about John the Baptist's future (Luke 1:76) and recognising that the church teaches that Mary is the mother of God who prays for them. Pupils will also describe some ways in which Christians prepare for Jesus' coming at Christmas during the season of Advent.
