Year 2 2023 - 2024
Mrs Goulbourne
Class Teacher
A warm welcome to Year 2's class page.
On behalf of all the staff in Year 2, welcome to our class page. This is where you will find all the information you need to know about what we will be doing this term.
In Year 2, we always try to make our learning enjoyable and engaging so that it's memorable. We also work hard in lessons to reach clearly defined objectives and produce work of increasingly high quality.
We recognise that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. A strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child's education.
If you ever have any questions or would like a chat about subjects or progress, please do not hesitate to ask.

RE - Come and See
Local Church - Community: In this unit, the children will explore, discuss and investigate the many books which we use at home and at school and how and where each one might be used. We will explore the books used in Church on Sunday by the parish family; how the scriptures are the treasured Word of God for the Jewish and Christian communities.
Eucharist - Relating: The children will respond to questions about how they and others feel when receiving and giving thanks. They will learn to recognise some of the signs, symbols, words and phrases involved in the Eucharist (Mass) showing how Catholics give thanks to God.
Lent/Easter - Giving: Life, especially family life, or life in school, is full of opportunities for self-giving. In this unit, the children will discover how Lent is the season when Christians practise both giving and giving-up, to identify with the complete self-offering of Jesus which is remembered in the liturgy of Holy Week and the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil).
Homework
Homework is a valuable way of enhancing your child’s learning outside of the classroom as well as
helping them to develop their independence and organisational skills.
Year 2 children will receive the following homework:
English/Reading - Children should try to read as frequently as possible. Reading books books will be changed every Friday.
Maths - Homework will be sent home on Fridays and is to be completed and returned to school the following Wednesday.
