Discover designs and techniques which are used in everyday products and creations, as well as new ideas that help to build to a brighter future.

Respect the expectations of a design criteria and the efforts of those working to meet it, including ourselves, our peers, and designers and pioneers that came before us.

Enthusiasm and enjoyment in designing and creating products, looking for ways to be innovative and inventive as well as practical and realistic.

Aspire to create purposeful and innovate products that show creativity and impact on lives to a high standard.

Make a difference to our communities, local, national and global, by creating new and exciting products that improve the quality of lives in a variety of ways.

At Corpus Christi, our DREAM Design Technology curriculum is based on the National Curriculum objectives and uses Twinkl PlanIt units of work to ensure good coverage and progression.

Marble runs.JPGWe customise each lesson to meet the unique needs of our Corpus Christi children, providing opportunities for enrichment and enhancement through an intellectually and creative curriculum.

Across their access to the Design Technology DREAM curriculum, the children have the opportunity to work with different projects and materials, including food, material, paper, cardboard, wood and electrical wiring. In each unit, they follow the same cycle of learning technical knowledge, exploring current products, design, plan, make and evaluate, with progression through a unit of work and throughout the key stages.

We want all of our pupils to have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in design, structures, mechanisms, electrical control and a range of materials, including food. Design and Technology helps the children to use Maths and English, and other subjects in the National Curriculum, in a fun manner and put these subjects into context, making them easier to digest and more understandable to younger primary age pupils.

We feel it is vital to nurture creativity and innovation through design, and by exploring the designed and made world in which we all live and work. It encourages children to think about important issues and to express themselves and develop an understanding of themselves the world around them.  Children will be able to develop their motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, inventiveness and creativity from working together. This means they will become increasingly competent, confident, and resilient. Design Technology provides challenges for learners at all levels.
