As outlined within the National Curriculum, Physical Education (PE) should inspire everyone to succeed in sporting and other physically demanding activities. Corpus Christi's DREAM curriculum is committed to promoting healthy mind and bodies.
We cover a broad range of sports across our curriculum where skills are taught and built upon each year. The skills taught can be transferred easily across a range of sports and through a variety of contexts for example in isolation, in a lesson, in a game or in a competition. We enhance our teaching by employing specialist sports coaches to help deliver our curriculum.
The sports and games taught as part of the Corpus Christi PE DREAM curriculum include football, rugby, dance, gymnastics, hockey, badminton, swimming, cricket, dodgeball and atheletics.
In addition, we strive to provide opportunities to compete in sport and other activities that build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect. We endeavour to develop a philosophy and a need for healthy life
styles, a balanced diet, positive growth mind-set and the resilience to persevere with activities that may be once have felt too difficult.
Our main aim is to equip pupils with the knowledge and understanding to cooperate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, understanding fairness and equity of play to embed life-long values.
We provide a range of extra-curricular activities which provides pupils with the opportunity to represent school in various sporting matches and a wide variety of after school sports clubs. We continue to show commitment to PE by being a part of the SHAPES enhanced competition package, competing against local schools across a variety of sports, professional coaching from Tennis, Cricket and the wider area, whole school inter competitions, Your School Games Mark, nationwide initiatives for example, Sport Relief and CPD for all staff.
