Catholic Life
Mission and Ethos
At Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School, our Catholic faith is the foundation of everything we do. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ, we strive to create a loving, inclusive and faith-filled community where every child is valued and encouraged to grow spiritually, academically and personally.
Our Gospel values guide daily life in school and help shape the relationships we build with one another. We encourage our pupils to live out these values through kindness, respect, compassion and service to others.
Christ is truly at the centre of our school. Through prayer, worship, learning and acts of service, we help our children develop a deeper understanding of their faith and their role in making the world a better place.
Pupil Leadership and Participation
Pupil leadership plays an important role in promoting Catholic Life and Mission at Corpus Christi.
Our Mini Vinnies group, inspired by the work of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, provides opportunities for Key Stage 2 pupils to put their faith into action. The group meets regularly to pray together, discuss how they can support others and plan charitable initiatives within school and the wider community.
Mini Vinnies help to organise fundraising events, support local charities and lead prayer opportunities within school. Through these experiences, pupils develop confidence, leadership skills and a strong sense of social justice.
Service and Charity
Living out our faith through service is an important part of school life. Pupils are encouraged to recognise the needs of others and respond with generosity and compassion.
Throughout the year we support a range of charitable organisations including:
CAFOD, the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development
Mary's Meals
Local food banks and community initiatives
Our pupils take part in national campaigns such as the Big Lent Walk, raising funds and awareness for communities experiencing poverty and hardship across the world.
We also support our local St Helens Foodbank through donations during Harvest and at other times of the year, helping families within our local community.
In addition, many of our pupils choose to support charities independently, raising funds for organisations including:
Cancer Research UK
Willowbrook Hospice
Motor Neurone Disease Association
These acts of generosity reflect the strong sense of compassion within our school community.
Care for Creation
Inspired by Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home, pupils at Corpus Christi are encouraged to take responsibility for protecting the environment.
Our school community takes part in a variety of initiatives that promote environmental awareness and stewardship. These include:
Working with local community groups such as Rainford in Bloom to plant flowers and improve shared spaces
Developing our school Forest Trail and outdoor learning environment
Participating in the Picker Pals programme to reduce litter and protect local wildlife
Through these experiences, children learn the importance of caring for God’s creation and developing sustainable habits for the future.
Parish and Community Links
Corpus Christi has strong links with our parish and local community. These partnerships help strengthen pupils’ sense of belonging and encourage them to live out their faith beyond the classroom.
Our school choir shares their talents by visiting and singing at a local hospice during the Christmas season, bringing joy and comfort to residents and families.
During Advent, pupils also create Christmas cards which are delivered to patients at Whiston Hospital, spreading hope and kindness to those who may be spending the festive season in hospital.
These opportunities help pupils understand the importance of serving others and contributing positively to the wider community.
Growing in Faith
At Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School, we believe that Catholic Life is lived out through prayer, service and daily acts of kindness.
By working together as a school, parish and community, we help our pupils grow in their knowledge and love of God, developing the values and faith that will guide them throughout their lives.
