This term we will continue to read ‘Journey to Jo’Burg’ by Beverley Naidoo, we will use the text as a stimulus for writing diaries, and to help us understand more about life in South Africa under the political system of apartheid. This will also help us with writing a biography of Nelson Mandela. The second novel for the term will be ‘Hero’ by Sarah Lean, a tale about morals and friendship.
Our topics this term are:
Healing - During this topic, the children will learn about the different liturgies which the sacraments offer to the sick and dying and show understanding of how religious belief shapes life, and that caring for those in need is a Christian responsibility.
Common Good - Through this unit the children will be gain an understanding of how religious belief in justice and of the common good of all, shapes life.
Light - we will investigate how light travels in a straight line; how it reflects off non-luminous objects, so that we can see through them; how light is reflected from mirrors; and how Isaac Newton investigated light to find out about colour.
Electicity - we will investigate we will be using a wide range of electrical components to compare how electric circuits operate.
