Year 3

Welcome to the year 3 class page!

Welcome to Year 3, we have started a new a term of learning, excitement and fun. 


 In English we are looking at the author Roald Dahl. We are reading one of his works George's Marvellous Medicine, this will be used as a basis for our writing this half term. We will be writing in different genres including poetry based on settings, instructions,  and character studies.


Reasoning in maths is a focus for this term and the using and applying of our times tables to our work across the maths curriculum.We are trying very hard to learn our tables especially the 2s, 3s and 4 times tables.

Religious Education

Over the term we will be looking at the following topics:


Homes: The joys and sorrows of being a family at home and God’s vision for every family.


Promises: The meaning of promises made in Baptism.


Visitors: The demands and joys of visitors and waiting for the coming of Jesus.


 The science topic is Forces and Magnets. We will be looking at some of the following aspects of the topic:

How forces are used to push,  pull, speed up and slow down objects.

We will investigate magnet strength and magnetic poles.



We will be finding out about Romans:

The Invasions, Roman Roads.

Boudicca’s Rebellion and Hadrian’s Wall.

Gods and Goddesses and Roman Baths.


The art topic is Autumn. This has a focus on drawing leaves in pencil and applying colour. The children will also explore other ways of studying other forms of leaf art work.
